Community: Assault on a childQuestion: My 9-year-old son was assaulted by my next-door neighbour who is 65 years old. The neighbour was arrested, cautioned then released. I'm not happy with the way it was dealt with by the police and want an injunction to stop the neighbour approaching my child. How do I proceed?
Answer: You can obtain an injunction (called a non-molestation order/ injunction) by applying to the County Court, Fill in Form Number N 016A. If you go into your local County Court the "front desk" staff are usually very helpful (although they can't give legal advice). They will tell you which forms to use and give you some literature to help you. Perhaps you could claim damages from your neighbour too: ask in court for a form( usually N1).
