What if I've been dismissed unfairly?

If you are dismissed and you think you’ve been treated unfairly, there are two ways you may be able to claim compensation. You can bring:

You can make these claims to an employment tribunal.

If your claim does go to a tribunal, the tribunal members will look at whether you and your employer have followed a fair procedure when they decide what award to make. The tribunal can increase your award by up to an extra 25 per cent, depending on what steps the employer failed to take, for example failing to advise you to appeal.
